The founding partner of the present-day Younge & Hockensmith, P.C.,
was Samuel G. McMullin. He began practicing law in Grand Junction in 1892,
making our firm one of the oldest firms in Western Colorado. Dignified,
reserved, and industrious, Mr. McMullin worked to establish business and
financial institutions, many of which survive today. According to
historians, Mr. McMullin's early law practice even included helping run
townsite "claim jumpers" out of town at gunpoint.
The advance of civilization has made the practice of law in Grand
Junction a bit less dramatic; however, Mr. McMullin's example of
commitment to our clients' welfare and success has stood before our firm
over 100 years. Along with the examples furnished over the years by Guy
Sternberg, John Helman, Thomas K. Younge, and Frank Hockensmith, it guides
our firm today.
This commitment is more than rhetoric. It means down-to-earth benefits
for our clients. It is the chief reason our firm has endured and prospered
over many years. This longevity itself has been of benefit to our clients.
